dr. albert heijn
roundtables
In 2006 the
Executive Director of ICSS Peter van Rooijen developed together with
Aidspan the idea of setting up a small
series of Roundtables at a location where people could talk freely about global
issues that affect the performance of Global Fund grants but not necessarily
fall within the Global Fund mandate.
Dr. Albert Heijn and his wife Monique Heijn kindly offered to fund
and host two of these Roundtables.
The Round Tables are run by a Steering Committee that is independent of the
Global Fund:
Dr. Jim Kim, USA (Chair)
Dr. Alex Coutinho, Uganda
Mrs. Mabel van Oranje, Netherlands
Dr. Steve Radelet, USA
Mr. Peter van Rooijen, Netherlands
Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, Thailand
Dr. Ngaire Woods, New Zealand.
The Roundtable project is served by Aidspan as Secretariat, and Chris Collins as
Co-ordinator.
The first
Roundtable took place in January 2007, and focused on how to ensure that
implementers of Global Fund grants have access to adequate and appropriate
technical support, and on what changes this might require in inter-agency
collaboration between the Global Fund, UNAIDS, WHO, World Bank, DFID, PEPFAR,
the Gates Foundation and others. |
